Jeff Bak, President and Chief Executive Officer

Jeff has spent 20 years in the insurance, reinsurance and healthcare services industry. Jeff joined HealthPlan Services in January 1995 and served in various sales and business development leadership positions. In May of 1999, he became President and Chief Operating Officer while spearheading all operations of HealthPlan Services, Inc. Then in 2000, Jeff led the buy-out of HPS, ABPA and Montgomery Management. In 2001, he was named President and CEO of HPH and has presided over the company’s consistent revenue and earnings growth.

Jeff began his career with Dun & Bradstreet in 1989 as a sales management trainee. In 1992 he left to work as a reinsurance broker with Peglar & Associates, a boutique reinsurance intermediary, in Stamford, Connecticut through 1994. Jeff is a graduate of Clemson University where he earned a B.S. in Business in 1989 and completed the Advanced Management Program at the Kellogg School of Business at Northwestern University in 1999.   Back to the top

Anne Marie Faria, Executive Vice President, Chief Marketing and Sales Officer 

Anne Marie began working with HealthPlan Services in 2001. She has extensive experience developing new manufacturing and distribution network relationships. She has created agency distribution networks that use a common platform service model to distribute products such as health, life, disability, Long Term Care and other employee-benefit products suited for the individual and small business marketplace. Prior to working with HPS, Anne Marie began her career at New England Financial (NEF) in 1974. Over her 26-year career, she has managed a variety of organizations including: Human Resources, Small Business Marketing and Sales, the Small Group Health Program and most recently Product Management for Life, Annuity, Long Term Care, Disability and Group Insurance. Anne Marie worked closely with HPS during her tenure at NEF. She retired from NEF in Fall 2000.  Back to the top

Stephen M. Saft, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Administrative Officer

Steve has over 15 years of experience in healthcare services with with broad general management, strategic planning, operations, and financial management expertise. Prior to joining Healthplan Services, Steve served as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Administrative Officer of CCS Medical, a leading provider of medical supplies. He also served as a member of the Office of the President. Previously Steve served as the Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of Priority Healthcare Corporation, a Fortune 1000 company that distributed and managed biopharmaceutical therapies.  Back to the top

James Vertino, Chief Information Officer

Jim has more than 17 years of experience in all aspects of IT management and development. Prior to joining HPS, Jim served as Vice President of Systems and Technology and acting CIO for CareSource, where he was responsible for directing all aspects of the formation and execution of the healthcare IT corporate strategy.

Previous positions include Vice President of Enterprise Technology for MetLife, where he orchestrated the development, implementation, maintenance and support of the domestic emerging technology infrastructure. He also served as Vice President and Chief Administration Officer of Equity Technologies at Lehman Brothers and Project Manager for Dun & Bradstreet.

Jim graduated magna cum lade from Medaille College in Buffalo, N.Y., with a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems. He is a member of the Managed Care Executive Group (MCEG), Association for Community Affiliated Plans (ACAP) and Dayton Area CIO Council.  Back to the top

Terri Gonzalez, Senior Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer

Terri joined HealthPlan Services in July of 2012 as Chief Human Resources Officer. With more than 20 years of experience in human resources management, Terri leads HealthPlan Services Human Resources group and is responsible for developing and executing HR strategy in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the organization, specifically in the areas of compensation, rewards, talent acquisition, talent management, change management, succession planning and organizational development. Terri’s previous positions include Vice President of Human Resources, Call Center Operations for Medco Health Solutions, Senior Vice President, Human Resources for Market Street Mortgage and Senior Vice President, Human Resources, Tropical Sportswear International.

Terri graduated from the University of South Florida with a bachelor’s degree in Social & Behavioral Science and obtained her Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in Human Resources from Tampa College. Terri holds her Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification.  Back to the top

George Durot, Senior Vice President of Business Development

George Durot has over thirty years experience in the information technology services industry and joined HealthPlan Services in September 2009 to lead its business development team. In this position, George is responsible for driving revenue growth through new client acquisition.

Prior to joining HealthPlan Services, George spent twenty-three years at IBM in a number of senior leadership positions including IBM Global Services Vice President responsible for IBM’s U.S. Insurance Industry Information Technology Infrastructure Outsourcing business and Sales Director responsible for IBM’s Financial Services business in Georgia and Tennessee.

George also held General Management positions at Whittman-Hart, a middle market oriented IT consulting firm, where he led their Atlanta office and Entex Information Services, a national network systems integrator and personal computer reseller, where he led their Chicago office.

George graduated from Tulane University in 1978 with a B.S. in Business Management. He has completed a number of executive development programs at IBM and Harvard University.  Back to the top

Dennis Prysner, Senior Vice President, Healthcare Reform

Dennis Prysner is responsible for the leadership of HPS’ corporate healthcare reform initiatives.
In this role, Prysner oversees the deployment of the company’s healthcare reform strategy and readiness initiatives. This includes both its ExchangeLink technology and the overall operational readiness of its Go-To-Exchange strategy. Go-To-Exchange provides comprehensive management of the administrative and technical needs of health plans participating in state exchanges.

Prior to this appointment, Dennis served as SVP & Chief Project Officer responsible for the Enterprise Project Management Office. Dennis Prysner rejoined HealthPlan Services (HPS) in April of 2003 as Vice President & Account Executive, with responsibilities for key carrier partner relationships. In 2005 he was promoted to SVP, New Client Implementations responsible for the successful on-boarding of our new carrier partnerships.

Mr. Prysner’s career in the insurance business extends back to 1977, where he held key IT and operational management positions supporting group Life, Disability and Health at two leading insurance entities, Crown Life Insurance Company of Toronto, Canada, and Phoenix Mutual Insurance Company of Hartford, Connecticut.

From 1990 to 1994, Mr. Prysner was Senior Project Manager for Liberty Mutual’s Group Division, where he led the selection, acquisition, integration, and conversion to an enterprise-wide administration and claims system supporting group Life, Dental, Disability and Accident & Health. In 1994, as the result of a strategic acquisition, Mr. Prysner joined Consolidated Group Trust, one of the largest privately held third party administrators in the United States, as Assistant Vice President of IT. In 1996, Consolidated Group Trust was acquired by HealthPlan Services, and Mr. Prysner relocated to Tampa, Florida. From 1996 to 2000, Mr. Prysner was VP of IT for HealthPlan Services’ small business division, where he was responsible for application engineering & development for all enterprise administration and claim payment systems.

From 2000 to 2003, Dennis spent three years as VP, Professional Services, for Riverwood Solutions, Inc., Waukesha, Wisconsin, where he led the company’s web technology development, deployment and support operations. Riverwood Solutions was an offshoot of Workscape, Inc., a leading Internet employee benefits company based in Natick, Massachusetts.  Back to the top

Ronald L. Walters, Jr., Senior-Vice President, Operations

Ron joined HPS in 2006 and is responsible for all operations functions including licensing, underwriting, customer service, policy administration, claims and quality. Ron has 20 years of experience in the insurance and financial services sectors, and has a strong track record of improving efficiencies, profitability and customer service.

Prior to HPS Ron spent 13 years with Nationwide Insurance and its subsidiaries where he held various leadership roles in operations, technology, finance, and account management.

Ron spent 5 years working abroad in Brazil and Luxembourg and played a key role in the start-up and development of several financial services and insurance companies.

Ron has a BS from Miami University and has an MBA from The Ohio State University.  Back to the top

Blake Lasky, Senior-Vice President, Client Engagement

Blake Lasky has over thirty years experience in the information technology and Business Process Outsourcing services industries. Blake joined HelthPlan Services as the Senior Vice President of the Client Engagement team. In this position, Blake is responsible for client management and engagement leading to satisfaction and growth of existing client partnerships.

Prior to joining HealthPlan Services, Blake held executive leadership roles in sales and service delivery at both IBM and Genpact. At IBM Blake lead the Americas Banking Industry, built and ran an innovation center for a strategic partnership and managed many large complex teams in support of large client relationships in both the Banking and Insurance Industries. At Genpact, Blake was the executive in charge of key insurance strategic client partnerships.

Blake graduated from University of California Berkeley in 1984 with a A.B. in Neurobiology. He has completed a number of executive development programs at IBM and through IBM at Harvard University, Warton Business School and the Boston University School of Management. Back to the top

Evan Brownstein, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Communications

Evan generates growth and creates value by defining the HealthPlan Services brand, bringing it to life, creating awareness, and inspiring positive perception of HealthPlan Services. He is responsible for customer research, marketing, advertising, website, social media, public relations, crisis communications, client communications, analyst relations, and competitive intelligence.

Prior to joining the HealthPlan Services Executive Team, Evan served the business as a consultant. He led the team that created “Solutions to Uncertainty,” the brand position HealthPlan Services used successfully to build a dominant position in the exchange market.

Evan’s experience includes extensive consumer marketing success. He developed the “Pick Enterprise, We’ll Pick You Up” brand position for Enterprise Rent-A-Car that helped grow the company from $600 million to $14 billion+ in revenue. For American Express, Evan led the team that created and launched the Tribeca Film Festival. His healthcare accomplishments include brand equity growth for Pfizer, Schering-Plough, Tampa General Hospital, Gracepoint Behavioral Health, Moffitt Cancer Center, Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute, and Wellcare.

A graduate of Swarthmore College (B.A. in English Literature), Evan also studied for his M.F.A in Film at Columbia University. Back to the top
